The Challenge
Premier Trailer Leasing, a national provider of trailer rental and leasing services, was facing challenges in accurately tracking its trailer assets. The company had a trailer tracking provider in place, but the devices did not provide accurate data. The vendor was also not a reliable partner, changing ownership every 2 or 3 years, making it difficult for Premier to build a viable partnership. This lack of accurate tracking made it difficult for Premier to locate its assets for renting or leasing to the next customer. The company evaluated many different GPS trailer tracking solutions providers that were entering the market at the time.
The Solution
After careful analysis, Premier chose Spireon as its partner for GPS trailer tracking solutions. Spireon offered the products and financial security necessary for a long-term partnership. The majority of Premier’s 50,000 trailers now utilize Spireon’s FL Flex family of devices. With this solution, Premier can track its trailers via Spireon’s cloud-based FleetLocate UI. The tool offers a variety of features and functions including creating landmarks, monitoring idle trailers, setting up users, and setting up automated reports for customers. Premier also activated the FleetLocate leasing module so that customers can track the trailers they are renting from Premier. To provide customers even more visibility, Premier is adding Spireon’s IntelliScan cargo sensor in all its dry van trailers and offering image retrieval.
