Restaurant Equippers is one of the largest sellers of new and used restaurant equipment and supplies in the U.S. Since its formation in 1966, the company has enjoyed two market distinctions: offering lower prices due to its size and ability to purchase in volume, and ensuring prompt order fulfillment by stocking every item advertised in its catalog. The company distributes its catalog quarterly to approximately 750,000 food service professionals and maintains a massive warehouse distribution center at its Columbus, Ohio headquarters, spanning over 170,000 square feet. With two locations and 100 employees, Restaurant Equippers has established itself as a key player in the restaurant equipment supply industry.

Restaurant Equippers needed to replace its outdated ERP solution and integrate a new solution with the existing warehouse management system. The old system was 15 years old and discontinued by the software developer, making it difficult to extract usable information. The company needed to ensure it was targeting the right customer base, carrying the optimal product mix, and minimizing total cost of ownership for customers. Expecting rapid growth, the chosen solution had to support significant company expansion.

Restaurant Equippers evaluated several ERP systems and chose Microsoft Dynamics GP due to its out-of-the-box functionality and compatibility with their existing Microsoft SQL Server database. Velosio, a Microsoft Certified partner, was engaged to assist with the implementation and customizations. The first task was to develop integrations with the warehouse management system, allowing immediate information about item availability and enabling order completion during phone calls. Customizations also allowed order takers to offer alternative items if requested items were unavailable. Velosio provided a senior consultant to serve as project manager, ensuring a smooth transition with no business interruption. Training was conducted once customizations and integrations were in place, leading to a seamless implementation.

Moxa was asked to provide a connectivity solution for one of the world's leading cosmetics companies.
