They serve major household names and NHS Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Units (PMUs), making quality assurance and traceability vital to their supply chain processes. Both companies needed an ERP system to support their quality assurance and traceability processes, manage their entire supply chain, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices. The system needed to improve operating efficiencies, maintain cost-controlled operations, and provide accurate, real-time data from raw material receipt to finished product delivery.

Back in 2007, John Gosnell & Co. Limited and its sister company Courtin & Warner Limited recognized the need for a robust ERP system to support their quality assurance and traceability processes. As manufacturers of pharmaceutical and food products, they required a system that could manage their entire supply chain process while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices. The companies needed to improve operating efficiencies to maintain cost-controlled operations and required a tightly integrated supply chain execution system with accurate, real-time data from raw material receipt to finished product delivery. The chosen system had to be fully functional, robust, secure, and flexible enough to support a wide range of products, processes, repacking, and handling solutions. Additionally, it needed to comply with Good Automated Manufacturing Process (GAMP) standards and meet the requirements of regulatory bodies like BRC and MHRA.

The WinMan ERP system was chosen for its ability to meet all the selection criteria, including flexibility to handle cosmetics manufacturing requirements and additional needs for pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs manufacture. As an ERP system designed specifically for manufacturers and distributors, WinMan met GAMP compliance requirements set by BRC and MHRA. The system's validation process included preparing test scripts for key processes like lot traceability, system security, product structure maintenance, manufacturing data capture, engineering change control, invoicing, and shipment. These test scripts were used to validate system performance, train users, and identify areas for system configuration adjustments. The WinMan system also supported quality assurance processes, including lot traceability and managing expiry dates. It enabled rapid retrieval of traceability records, critical for product recalls, and ensured raw materials with the shortest expiry dates were consumed first. The system's Kiosk operation replaced paper-based work sheets, providing more accurate production costs and visibility of work-in-progress, improving production scheduling and customer service.
