关于客户
Duke University Medical Center and Health System (DUHS) in Durham, North Carolina, is a top-rated hospital consistently recognized by U.S. News & World Report. As one of the nation's leading medical centers, DUHS operates a large clinical and biomedical research enterprise, quickly translating technological and medical advancements into improved patient care. The Administrative Development Group (ADG) within Duke's Corporate Information Services is dedicated to ensuring that space information is readily available to various stakeholders, including space planners, corporate accountants, Duke architects, and Medical School deans. DUHS encompasses three hospitals and other clinical facilities, making it a significant player in the healthcare sector.
挑战
ADG, part of Duke's Corporate Information Services, faced the challenge of unifying space information that was scattered across various homegrown systems. Different departments tracked space data for different purposes and at varying levels of detail, leading to inconsistencies and inefficiencies. The Medical Center Architect's Office used ARCHIBUS for planning and construction, while the Plant Accounting department relied on a flat-file database. Additionally, many large Medical School departments maintained their own separate systems, further complicating the task of creating a unified institutional space system.
解决方案
The ADG team developed a Web application that interfaced with existing ARCHIBUS tables and added new tables for Duke-specific data. This application, known as the Space Tracking and Reporting system (STAR), allows department administrators and space managers to edit their own space information. STAR integrates data from various sources into a single database, making it easier to manage and track space usage. Additional ARCHIBUS licenses were purchased for the Plant Accounting users, ensuring that all institutional data at Duke is now tracked in one comprehensive database. This integrated system supports various applications, including Medicare and Medicaid reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and year-end closing.
运营影响
  • The integrated space data has streamlined the allocation of costs, ensuring accurate charge-backs for services like public safety and groundskeeping.
  • The Health System uses the integrated data for Medicare and Medicaid reporting, enhancing compliance and reporting accuracy.
  • The Duke Accounting division leverages the space data for forecasting, budgeting, and year-end closing, improving financial planning and management.
  • The institutional space database supports building depreciation cost allocation, resource planning, and various surveys and analyses, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
  • The Medical Center's CAD drawings and associated data are utilized by multiple departments, including maintenance, delivery, safety office, police, fire, environmental services, clinical engineering, telecommunications, key shop, and visitor services, ensuring comprehensive facility management.
数量效益
  • Facilities Facts: 400 buildings, approximately 12 million square feet, all managed by ARCHIBUS.
