The customer in this case study is a healthcare provider that uses the Asthma Control Test (ACT) to monitor patients' asthma conditions. The ACT is a tool used by medical assistants in the clinic to document and track patients' asthma symptoms and control. The customer was facing challenges in referencing and analyzing ACT data, which was previously done through an excel report. The lack of an efficient and effective system for data analysis and visualization made it difficult for the healthcare provider to have meaningful conversations about ACT documentation and patient outcomes.

The Asthma Control Test Qlik Sense application was built to assist in trending scores documented by the Medical Assistants within the clinic flowsheet. The challenge prior to the application was referencing a prior week lookback of data via an excel report. There simply could not be a meaningful conversation involving the ACT documentation without being able to easily show what was occurring.

The solution to the customer's challenge was the implementation of the Asthma Control Test Qlik Sense application. This application was built to assist in trending scores documented by the Medical Assistants within the clinic flowsheet. The application uses data from Epic Clarity, a comprehensive database system, to provide real-time analytics and visualization of the ACT data. This allows for easy referencing and analysis of the data, enabling meaningful conversations about ACT documentation and patient outcomes.

Hospital Inventory Management
The hospital supply chain team is responsible for ensuring that the right medical supplies are readily available to clinicians when and where needed, and to do so in the most efficient manner possible. However, many of the systems and processes in use at the cancer center for supply chain management were not best suited to support these goals. In order to address the challenges outlined above, the hospital sought a solution that would provide real-time inventory information with high levels of accuracy, reduce the level of manual effort required and enable data driven decision making to ensure that the right supplies were readily available to clinicians in the right location at the right time.
