关于客户
Gard is a management company created to provide global insurance support to both capital providers for ship owners and operators and those involved in oil and gas markets. Gard employs more than 340 people of 27 different nationalities in nine locations around the world, with its headquarters in Arendal, Norway.
挑战
Gard’s IT-department experienced downtime and a lot of time spent on administering servers and clients. When it came to managing their user environment, they were in a challenging situation, and felt that the current IT-staff level could not handle the workload. They wanted the flexibility of roaming profiles, but not the problems typically associated with them; namely corruption, excessive administration, long logon times and inflexible configuration. Gard needed to be able to customize user settings and keep them regardless of where the user logged on from. Gard expects high levels of success from its workforce, so they also needed to ensure the user environment was responsive and stable - to ensure maximum user-productivity.\n\n“We were in desperate need for a solution that could reduce the time I spent on administrating user profiles and individual settings. Since there were no roaming profiles on the Citrix servers, we encountered a lot of challenges. In short; we needed to introduce more flexibility for our users instead of restricting their IT-experience.” said Jan Ove Folgerø, Chief Systems Engineer, Gard.
解决方案
Gard was first introduced to AppSense at Citrix iForum in Edinburgh. This initial meeting was followed by an in-depth presentation of the product through a webinar, where the AppSense Management Suite was immediately identified as a solution that could solve their profile management problems. Following a proof of concept, Gard invested in AppSense Management Suite.\n\n“We were either faced with the challenges of hiring more staff to fix problems on hand, or introduce more automated solutions to avoid the problems. Instead of having to spend a lot of time finding and training new employees, we decided that AppSense would give us a far better return on investment, and was really the best way to make sure that we could deliver an IT experience that our users would be happy with. Now they can have the flexibility of a roaming profile, without IT experiencing the associated support problems”\n\n“We rolled out AppSense Environment Manager in our production environment in Arendal in just a few weeks. In order to make the deployment as efficient as possible we made some small changes on our Citrix farm, but it was a simple and smooth transition.”

Taking Oil and Gas Exploration to the Next Level
DownUnder GeoSolutions (DUG) wanted to increase computing performance by 5 to 10 times to improve seismic processing. The solution must build on current architecture software investments without sacrificing existing software and scale computing without scaling IT infrastructure costs.

Remote Wellhead Monitoring
Each wellhead was equipped with various sensors and meters that needed to be monitored and controlled from a central HMI, often miles away from the assets in the field. Redundant solar and wind generators were installed at each wellhead to support the electrical needs of the pumpstations, temperature meters, cameras, and cellular modules. In addition to asset management and remote control capabilities, data logging for remote surveillance and alarm notifications was a key demand from the customer. Terra Ferma’s solution needed to be power efficient, reliable, and capable of supporting high-bandwidth data-feeds. They needed a multi-link cellular connection to a central server that sustained reliable and redundant monitoring and control of flow meters, temperature sensors, power supply, and event-logging; including video and image files. This open-standard network needed to interface with the existing SCADA and proprietary network management software.

Refinery Saves Over $700,000 with Smart Wireless
One of the largest petroleum refineries in the world is equipped to refine various types of crude oil and manufacture various grades of fuel from motor gasoline to Aviation Turbine Fuel. Due to wear and tear, eight hydrogen valves in each refinery were leaking, and each cost $1800 per ton of hydrogen vented. The plant also had leakage on nearly 30 flare control hydrocarbon valves. The refinery wanted a continuous, online monitoring system that could catch leaks early, minimize hydrogen and hydrocarbon production losses, and improve safety for maintenance.
