About The Customer
The medical center has been actively involved in addressing the COVID-19 medical crisis on several fronts, including providing primary healthcare delivery services in the region, as well as conducting research & development (R&D) efforts on innovative treatment options. As the medical center leads these critical efforts, their day-to-day healthcare delivery network factors more than 1,000 patient beds across several hospitals, outpatient centers, clinics, and specialty institutes responsible for supporting 1+ million annual patient visits.
The Challenge
The medical center was facing a lack of visibility into their Epic EHR and Nuance PowerScribe radiology reporting solutions, which was impacting patient care and staff efficiencies. They were also dealing with tool consolidation, multi-vendor management, and operating expense challenges. The IT team was responsible for an increasing number of complex digital clinical applications, including a comprehensive Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, a voice-based Nuance PowerScribe application, and a virtual private network (VPN) and VMware Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment. These services were recognized as business-critical to improving healthcare delivery efficiencies to patients in need, but there were consistent difficulties in monitoring them.
The Solution
The medical center deployed the nGeniusONE Service Assurance platform, InfiniStreamNG software appliances, vSTREAM virtual appliances, and nGenius Visibility as a Service. The nGeniusONE platform provided real-time intelligence and troubleshooting of their voice, video, and data applications, including Epic, PowerScribe, and VPN/VDI services. The InfiniStreamNG Software Appliances were installed at primary and backup data centers supporting 40G network speeds. The vSTREAM virtual appliances were implemented to provide visibility into the VMware and virtual server environment. The nGenius Visibility as a Service combined NETSCOUT subject matter expertise on nGeniusONE operations with staff augmentation resources well-versed in the healthcare IT ecosystem.
