About The Customer
Superprem Industries is a wholesale distributor of household products, including sinks, faucets, small appliances, and other plumbing fixtures. The company imports these products from China and Europe and distributes them to plumbing retailers throughout Canada under brand names such as Kruger Living, Kinetic Home Products, and Pearl Sinks. Superprem also has a subsidiary company called Barak Building Supplies. The company was founded in 1998 by John Chiang as a Diamond Tool distributorship for countertop makers. It later added a line of sinks and other plumbing fixtures, which grew to become the bulk of the company's revenue. With sales of more than $5 million, Superprem operates from four locations across Canada.
The Challenge
Superprem Industries, a wholesale distributor of household products, was facing operational and financial reporting inefficiencies due to its outdated Sage software. The company was running four unconnected Sage databases across its four locations in Canada, leading to inaccurate inventory counts and difficulties in tracking invoices. The accounting team had to constantly enter data from outlying offices into a master file, spending two to three days a month on this task. The lack of connectivity also made it difficult for sales to access inventory or customer information, leading to inefficiencies and communication issues. The company needed a robust, cloud-based financial system that could provide better insight into operations and support its expansion into new territories.
The Solution
Superprem Industries implemented Acumatica's cloud-based ERP for its affordability, unlimited-user pricing, and intercompany module. The company also implemented APS (American Payment Solutions), EasyStock Inventory Optimization Solution, and Scanco Warehouse (WMS) solution for Acumatica. The implementation of Acumatica's Financials, Distribution, and Intercompany module provided an end-to-end solution for Superprem's growing business. The intercompany module allowed the company to manage financial reporting and automate transactions across multiple related entities, reducing double entries and errors. The cloud-based ERP streamlined operations, improved company-wide communication, and provided real-time visibility into inventory levels and consolidated reporting information.
Operational Impact
  • Superprem now operates much more efficiently from a single database, improving company-wide communication.
  • The company now has accurate inventory information, allowing for better financial and operational processes.
  • Sales no longer have to bother the warehouse to check inventory levels or call the accounting team for customer information, as they have instant access to this information from their mobile devices.
  • The warehouse staff can pick and ship more efficiently as they aren't constantly interrupted to verify items are in stock.
  • The company can expand into new territories effortlessly with the proper financial and operational processes now in place.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Commission reporting time reduced from 8 hours to 1.5 hours.
  • Time spent on transferring inventory between branches cut from three hours to 5 minutes.
  • Saved two to three minutes per transaction, leading to increased efficiency.
  • Sales are up 12% year over year in the past 6 months.
