About The Customer
Founded in 1989, Senheng® Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd is one of Malaysia's largest consumer electronics retail chains. Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, the company offers a wide range of products, including home and kitchen appliances, home theatres, audio systems, and gadgets like computers, laptops, tablets, cameras, and smartphones. With over 130 outlets across the country, Senheng® is a well-established and trusted household name among local consumers.
The Challenge
Senheng® Electric faced significant challenges with their existing ERP system, which struggled to handle the large volume of reports required by the business. The system's inefficiency led to frequent system hangs, impacting network performance and causing frustration among users who had to make critical business decisions based on outdated information. Additionally, sharing metric reports with top suppliers was nearly impossible under the existing system, further complicating operations.
The Solution
Senheng® researched and identified MicroStrategy as the solution to their challenges. They implemented MicroStrategy's core Business Intelligence (BI) solution in 2005 and added mobile functionalities in 2011. The MicroStrategy platform provided scalable, robust analytics and mobile architecture, allowing users to access and execute reports tailored to their profiles. The transition to MicroStrategy was seamless, with the team offering excellent support. The platform enabled secure access to extensive databases, intuitive visualization tools, and interactive filters, streamlining the analytical process and empowering executives to make fact-based decisions.
Operational Impact
  • Executives can now make fact-based decisions through interactive dashboards, improving overall business operations.
  • Senior management can analyze profit and loss and the cost-effectiveness of different sales channels.
  • Divisional heads have real-time insights to monitor store performance and increase operational efficiencies.
  • Store managers gain access to detailed store operations, including marketing and vendor analysis.
  • External suppliers can optimize inventory levels, reduce stock shortages, and analyze item movement to determine fast-selling items.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Sales have grown more than 10% year-on-year since the implementation of MicroStrategy.
  • The data volume has more than doubled since the 2005 implementation, yet the platform remains stable and efficient.
