About The Customer
Safelite is a well-respected national brand and the largest vehicle glass repair and replacement company in the world. They offer convenient repair services at customers' homes or offices, ensuring minimal disruption to their daily routines. Safelite's success is attributed to their tailored approach to competing effectively in different markets, which results in varying transportation needs across regions. Their commitment to customer satisfaction and operational efficiency has driven them to seek innovative solutions to enhance their supply chain management.
The Challenge
Safelite, the largest vehicle glass repair and replacement company in the world, faced challenges in managing their transportation needs due to varying regional demands and shifting work volumes. Previously, they worked with up to seven individual carriers, leading to inconsistent relationships and manual scheduling and measuring processes. Safelite recognized the need for a more efficient and integrated solution to streamline their supply chain and improve overall performance.
The Solution
Safelite decided to consolidate their dedicated contract transportation business and began exploring a transportation management system (TMS) solution. They partnered with Ruan, who provided not only a dedicated transportation solution but also an integrated TMS technology. Ruan's TMS solution allowed Safelite to capture all data in one place, enabling efficient data mining and analysis. The TMS technology also provided key performance indicators (KPIs) without manual entry, significantly improving Safelite's supply chain management. Additionally, Ruan's use of the FourKites load tracking platform offered real-time shipment visibility, enhancing the overall efficiency and transparency of Safelite's logistics operations.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).
