The Challenge
Transvalair, a worldwide logistics and supply chain solutions provider, was facing several challenges with their delivery operations. They were using a third-party software for deliveries, which they felt was outdated and in need of an upgrade. The support team for their previous software was difficult to reach, often taking hours to respond to issues. Transvalair was in need of a technology partner that was accessible and willing to grow with them. Their goals included gaining total oversight of their delivery operations, having delivery routes automatically planned, allowing customers to confirm/update booking slots via SMS notifications, having a label system for better warehouse organization, giving customers access to a tracking portal for order status updates, and having an easily accessible support team.
The Solution
Transvalair partnered with SmartRoutes to implement a total delivery management solution. This solution provided visibility and control over the entire delivery operation, enabling data-driven decisions. It improved warehouse organization by planning orders in advance, allowing for separation of orders based on location and returns. The solution also ensured delivery vehicles were at capacity before leaving the warehouse and packed in the order they would be delivered. SmartRoutes' Route Planning & Optimization Software automated route planning, saving time and improving efficiency. The software allowed for bulk address uploads and optimized routes based on vehicle constraints and time windows. The Fleet Tracking Software visualized the delivery fleet with a live map and managed & adjusted routes in real time. The Proof of Delivery system used electronic signatures and photos, and the Delivery Driver App provided drivers with necessary information for deliveries. The customer portal allowed customers to confirm delivery dates and times, improving the overall delivery experience.
Operational Impact

The warehouse team can now pull the order status report, allowing them to plan future operations. They can filter for undelivered orders, making it easier to plan redelivery. The team can also pull the run of the orders from the system, allowing them to organize the order in the warehouse before the van arrives. This enables them to pack the delivery vehicle in the order that it will be emptied. The platform also allows for the printing of new labels for returned items, helping the warehouse team better organize orders that are yet to be delivered and those being returned. The overall process has saved time and money at every step and provided greater oversight of delivery operations.
