About The Customer
Power Storage Solutions is a company based in Dallas, Texas with additional offices in Houston, Detroit, and Florida. The company was bought from Interstate Battery’s power storage division by Derrick Elledge and his partners. Power Storage Solutions provides engineering, fulfillment, installation, and maintenance of DC-power backup systems for Data Centers, Telecommunications, Utilities, and Petrochemical companies. The company has 47 technicians, 10 sales, and only five people in the back office. They had previously implemented Salesforce.com, Steelbrick CPQ, Concur, and Workday but faced problems connecting the software.
The Challenge
Power Storage Solutions, a company that provides engineering, fulfillment, installation, and maintenance of DC-power backup systems, was spun off from Interstate Batteries. The company had a 9-month window to continue operating on Interstate’s financial systems, leaving little time to choose and implement systems of their own. They had previously implemented Salesforce.com, Steelbrick CPQ, Concur, and Workday with the belief that implementing best of breed software would make the startup efficient and data rich. However, they faced tremendous problems connecting the software. They compared Oracle NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, and Microsoft Dynamics but found them either too expensive, cumbersome, or lacking the functionality they needed.
The Solution
Power Storage Solutions chose Acumatica ERP for its rapid integration capabilities, ease of use, and affordability. Acumatica is web-based, allowing for access from anywhere, and offered Power Storage the ability to share data through a future customer portal. The company implemented Acumatica quickly with the help of Client’s First, a consulting firm. They prioritized basic accounting functions like accounts payable and accounts receivable, sales orders, and projects. Expenses were added after those systems were up and running. The company plans to implement the Field Services module in Acumatica, which will allow them to better communicate with technicians and customers.
