This multi-billion-dollar healthcare manufacturer sells to consumers in over 100 countries around the globe supported by thousands of employees operating in many of those regions. With highly distributed manufacturing, sales, and service operations, their enterprise network was critical to their corporate strategy and success. The company had embarked on an aggressive digital transformation plan to migrate most if not all of their services in the cloud. Thousands of applications were in use to support their many product lines, manufacturing, and sales operations. Quality of experience was extremely important for employee productivity and customer service.
The Challenge
The company had embarked on an aggressive digital transformation plan to migrate most if not all of their services in the cloud. Thousands of applications were in use to support their many product lines, manufacturing, and sales operations. Quality of experience was extremely important for employee productivity and customer service. For the last few years, their legacy environment had leveraged nGenius Enterprise Performance Management visibility for real-time network and application performance monitoring, management, and reporting. Countless times it had proven valuable in identifying the source of degradations - quickly avoiding broad disruptions that could negatively impact customers and employees. The plan developed for their future environment included migrating many corporate applications to AWS Cloud, moving network access closer to employees in their territories by implementing Equinix colocation data centers hosting VPN services, adopting several new software as a service (SaaS) applications, including Microsoft Office 365 and unified communications as a service (UCaaS) applications like MS Teams, and upgrading to SD-WAN at their remote offices and factories around the world to improve connectivity.
The Solution
The key to assuring quality delivering of applications, enterprise-wide, was the deployment of the nGenius Enterprise Performance Management solution. The nGenius solution provided the organization with comprehensive, scalable, visibility without borders that would cover all their voice, video, and data applications; their physical and virtual monitoring requirements; in the cloud, co-los, and for XaaS applications; as well as a cost-effective mix of both packet-based and flow-based data sources. This enabled the manufacturer to avoid the costly inefficiencies that come with multiple management products and tool clutter. The IT team implemented the following solution components: NETSCOUT’s nGeniusONE server, nGenius for Flows server, and nGeniusONE Global Manager for real-time analysis of smart data from InfiniStreamNG (ISNG) appliances, vSTREAM virtual appliances and nGenius Flow Collectors to deliver insights into network and application performance as well as intelligent, contextual workflows for troubleshooting. The nGeniusONE Global Manager further provided a comprehensive, coalesced view of packetbased and NetFlow-based data analysis for traffic and application utilization from the remote offices and factories including details and trends for reporting and capacity planning.
