About The Customer
P&T Luxembourg, founded in 1842, is the leading provider of residential and professional services in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The company, with its 2,700 employees, operates postal, financial, and telecommunications services. In telecommunications, P&T Luxembourg runs both landline and mobile networks, providing a full range of voice and data services. Despite its lean and easily manageable size, P&T Luxembourg serves a diverse range of customers, including consumers, businesses, international banks, insurance companies, and European institutions. The company's primary challenge was to protect its infrastructure, applications, and data from the increasing threat of Internet attacks.
The Challenge
P&T Luxembourg, a leading provider of residential and professional services in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, faced a significant challenge in protecting their infrastructure, applications, and data from the increasing threat of Internet attacks. The speed, profusion, and structure of these attacks, including viruses, spamming, and phishing, necessitated the development of preventive and remote security measures. The company needed to ensure that these security measures were in place before any potential attacks could strike their IT infrastructure. Furthermore, there was a growing trend among companies to rely on external service providers for safeguarding their IT networks and infrastructure from Internet threats. To meet this challenge, P&T Luxembourg turned to a range of Check Point solutions to provide its customers with a dependable, quality service.
The Solution
Since 2004, P&T Luxembourg has been able to address this need by offering its SecureConnect security service, which is based on Check Point solutions. The aim of SecureConnect is to protect customer networks by installing firewalls and ensuring the confidentiality of Internet connections. This solution is primarily targeted at small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and manufacturing companies. SecureConnect includes handling the security management of network and/or Internet access without requiring any input from the user or company. To implement SecureConnect, a P&T team visits a customer’s site, installs the necessary equipment, and connects the system to the Internet and P&T’s security portal. SecureConnect is available in three modules for the SME market: WebAccess, RemoteAccess, and NetworkAccess. Each module provides a different level of protection and security functions.
