The Challenge
ZEUS Scooters, a micromobility company, was looking for a reliable IoT communication partner to enhance the efficiency of their e-scooter operations. Cellular connectivity is crucial for ZEUS's business to operate scooters remotely and collect vital data points like origins and destinations, alongside the duration and distance of the trip. Network coverage, quality, and reliability issues can prevent customers from connecting to scooters, resulting in missed trips. ZEUS Scooters had tried alternative telecommunications solutions but was not satisfied with the network coverage and reliability.
The Solution
ZEUS Scooters partnered with EMnify to connect and manage their scooters. EMnify provided multi-network connectivity and redundancy across the platform, improving coverage and failover capability to help ZEUS optimize the availability of their connected scooters. The self-service web portal gives clear, concise dashboards on scooter connections while helping the team stay on top of data usage. As scooters are deployed in public areas, the IMEI lock function also allows ZEUS to prevent unauthorized SIM use on another device and inflated costs that come with it.

For Fox and his team, these requirements meant turning to the cloud instead of an on-premises datacenter. “My first thought was to go directly to the cloud because we needed to provide access not only to our salespeople, but to resellers who didn’t have access to our internal network,” says Fox. “The cloud just seemed like a logical choice.”
