The Challenge
The telecommunications industry has limited visibility of the end customer quality experience. Assessing mobile phone users' needs is challenging due to barriers of access to actual, accurate customer experience related information. The two standard methods of collecting network quality information, through a drive test and by collecting data within the network from nodes, are either costly and inefficient or only provide an estimation and a very limited network centric view of the customer experience. Telecoms struggled to analyze trends and variances in traditional formats. In some cases, they lacked pertinent information to make timely decisions and take corrective action.
The Solution
Crowdx set out to develop an accurate and agile data-visualization set of dashboards to display cell towers and network quality related information sourced by mobile devices used by real customers. The Crowdx dashboard is capable of analyzing metrics, such as signal strength, network availability, reliability, internet speeds, and application performance. The goal was to implement an innovative dashboard to help with network planning, maintenance, optimization, and benchmarking. The incorporation of CARTO into the Crowdx dashboard includes layers, real time data visualization, and scalable APIs. The dashboard enables users to view where their mobile signals are the strongest, as well as their competitors, with a simple toggle feature.
