About The Customer
C&O Nursery is a family-run business that has been operating since 1906. Now in its fourth generation, the company raises and sells dozens of varieties of fruit trees, primarily focusing on apple, pear, and cherry varieties for orchards. The company is headquartered in Wenatchee, Washington, with several field operations nearby. C&O Nursery employs nearly 400 staff during the growing season, including 20 sales representatives around the U.S. The company generates annual revenues exceeding $12 million.
The Challenge
C&O Nursery, a family-run business in its fourth generation, had been using Microsoft Dynamics GP for accounting and payroll since 2008, along with a customized independent inventory system based on Microsoft Access 97. However, the outdated inventory system had issues and was not supported. The company wanted to integrate its accounting and inventory systems, but found that Microsoft Dynamics GP was inflexible and not suitable for the customizations required by their business. They needed a solution that could handle the specific needs of their agriculture business and provide better integration of their systems.
The Solution
C&O's Acumatica Gold Certified Partner, Patricia Bennett of PC Bennett Solutions, recommended Acumatica as the solution to C&O’s problem. Acumatica was chosen because it was browser-based and written in .NET, making it a better application for customization than Microsoft Dynamics GP. C&O decided to purchase Acumatica with a perpetual license and deploy it on-premises. They bought the Financial Management and Distribution Management Suites and plan to incorporate Acumatica Payroll soon. The transition involved shifting their accounting data, with the Acumatica Financial Management Suite going live at the start of their fiscal year, and the Distribution Management Suite going live a few months later.
