DTI, a leading provider of in-house and outsourced legal services and technology solutions, was facing a significant challenge in terms of data security and vulnerability management. The company had no visibility into its vulnerabilities, which was a major concern given the sensitivity of the data they handle. They had initially tried to resolve the issue using a combination of services and tactical products, but soon realized that they needed a more structured approach. The pressure from external auditors and compliance mandates also necessitated the need for continuous refinement of their internal processes to improve their overall risk profile. DTI needed a mature vulnerability management solution that provided a significant level of flexibility and scalability, delegation, automation and comprehensive reporting features for compliance purposes.

Retina CS offered optimal scalability, allowing DTI to deploy engines and licenses based on wherever they wanted to deploy them. Retina CS also offered an add-on patch management capability which integrated into their existing Windows Server Update Services patch management infrastructure. Securing the Connected Car Ecosystem
In-vehicle communications and entertainment system hosts high-value or sensitive applications. API libraries facilitate communication and sharing of vehicle data. These API libraries are vulnerable to reverse engineering and tampering attacks and may even result in loss of passenger safety. Attackers can inject malware that may be able to migrate to other in-car networks such as the controller-area-network (CAN) bus which links to the vehicle’s critical systems. Software provided for dealers to interface with cars through the OBD2 port is vulnerable to reverse engineering and tampering attacks. Hackers may be able to abuse these tools to inject malicious code into the ECUs and CAN bus. Attackers can lift the cryptographic keys used, and use that to build their own rogue apps/software. Their cloned version of the original app/software may have altered functionality, and may intend to gain access to other in-car networks.
