关于客户
The ASaP Program (Access, Support and Participation) is an initiative aimed at making childcare more inclusive by providing one-on-one coaching to early childhood educators. The program was created in response to a research study conducted in 2011 by Dr. Lesley Wiart for the Alberta Centre for Child, Family and Community Research. The study identified significant challenges facing licensed childcare centres, including limited access to resources to support the inclusion of all children. ASaP uses the evidence-based Pyramid Model to build educators' skills, knowledge, and confidence in inclusive practices, promote children's healthy social and emotional development, and support the wellbeing of educators, children, and families. The program initially operated in the Edmonton area but has since expanded to other regions of Alberta, including rural areas.
挑战
In 2012, The ASaP Program (Access, Support and Participation) was created in response to a research study conducted in 2011 by Dr. Lesley Wiart for the Alberta Centre for Child, Family and Community Research. The study identified several significant challenges facing licensed childcare centres, including limited access to resources to support the inclusion of all children. ASaP aimed to address these challenges by providing one-on-one coaching to early childhood educators using the evidence-based Pyramid Model. The goal was to build educators' skills, knowledge, and confidence in inclusive practices, promote children's healthy social and emotional development, and support the wellbeing of educators, children, and families. However, as ASaP expanded its work from the Edmonton area to other regions of the province, including rural areas, they faced the challenge of reducing drive time and providing a more efficient alternative to face-to-face coaching.
解决方案
To address the challenge of providing efficient coaching in rural areas, ASaP chose Swivl Teams + Robot after considering several coaching tools. Swivl Teams + Robot is a hands-free tool that tracks the educator around the classroom, allowing coaches to see educators in their practice and focus on their goals. The tool also features Time-Stamped Comments, which facilitate deeper and more meaningful dialogues between coaches and educators. Over time, ASaP expanded the use of Swivl Teams + Robot beyond submitting videos for feedback. Coaches began using the tool to set clear and actionable goals, record themselves modeling classroom strategies, and provide feedback to educators. This reciprocal coaching approach allowed coaches to self-reflect on their practice and receive feedback from their supervisors. ASaP also used Swivl Teams + Robot as a relationship-building tool, incorporating video into various aspects of professional learning and remote coaching. During the pandemic, they focused on the mental wellbeing of program participants through virtual check-ins.
