关于客户
The Parker Water and Sanitation District serves over 17,000 single-family equivalents (SFEs) within Parker, Colorado, covering a service area of approximately 43 square miles. Parker is the fastest-growing town in the fastest-growing county in the United States, experiencing a 50-fold population increase in its short municipal history. The district aims to provide secure, long-term, high-quality water service to support this explosive population growth. The district's mission is to ensure that its customers receive the best possible service through efficient and reliable operations.
挑战
The Parker Water and Sanitation District faced the challenge of supporting rapid population growth in Parker, Colorado, which required a highly efficient and reliable communication system to enhance operations and ensure high-quality water service. The existing network needed an overhaul to provide uninterrupted and economical Machine to Machine (M2M) communications. The district sought a solution that could integrate seamlessly with its existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor and control water and wastewater operations effectively.
解决方案
The Parker Water and Sanitation District partnered with Process Control Dynamics, Inc. (PCD Sales) and FreeWave Technologies to implement a new M2M communication network. FreeWave provided network design, path study analysis, and diagnostic tools, including Tool Suite software, which allowed the district to diagnose and configure wireless radios from SCADA programmers' desktops. This eliminated the need for remote field repairs, saving significant time and resources. The district mapped out and identified locations for network gateways to ensure effective data transmission. FreeWave's wireless radio models, including HTplus, FGR Series Radios, and FGR2-IO, were integrated into the network. The new network design included three layers: network gateways, HTplus radios connected to the gateways, and a subnet of FGR radios. This setup ensured reliable data transmission and allowed communication with every PLC in the network.
运营影响
  • Established an integrated and reliable communication network based on network design and path studies.
  • Developed a M2M network capable of delivering real-time communication across long distances, despite hilly terrain and variable Colorado weather.
  • Gained the ability to diagnose and configure communication issues from the desktop, along with top-notch customer support.
  • Provided a faster, more reliable M2M communication network to ensure optimization of water operations.
  • Enhanced public safety by constantly monitoring critical data, such as tank levels, temperatures, and pressures on a real-time basis.
数量效益
  • Serves over 17,000 single-family equivalents (SFEs).
  • Covers a service area of approximately 43 square miles.
  • Experienced a 50-fold population increase in Parker, Colorado.
