Lycée Colbert Lorient is a multidisciplinary high school located in Lorient, France. The school integrates general, technical, and professional educational programs and has more than 1,200 students, including approximately 280 in the 10th grade. The school offers a wide range of academic curricula, from literature and science to technology, economics, and sociology. The high school also provides advanced training through higher vocational training certificates. The teaching team at Lycée Colbert has been working with students on the design and manufacture of robots since 2010, with the goal of participating in international robotic competitions.
挑战
The challenge was to enable 10th-grade students in France to learn English, electronics, mechanics, and computers by building a robot and participating in international robotic competitions. The school aimed to provide students with a broad view of all subjects by exposing them to multidisciplinary educational projects. The objective was to participate in international robotic competitions, many of which take place in English-speaking countries. The project required the integration of various subjects, including English, science, and technology, to ensure students could communicate and exchange information effectively.

Lycée Colbert Lorient implemented SOLIDWORKS Education Edition to provide 280 10th-grade students with the opportunity to learn about design, engineering, and innovation. The project was organized into three phases: learning to use the software, designing with the software, and building the robot. The students learned how to use SOLIDWORKS Education Edition to design new parts, validate the design, and build the robot. The software was chosen for its ease of use, complete design and simulation capabilities, and opportunities to use English. The project also included learning English as the primary language to promote conversations with international teams and prepare for international competitions.

Fundacio Puigvert, a leading European medical center specializing in Urology, Nephrology, and Andrology, faced a significant challenge in training its surgical residents. The challenge was underscored by two independent studies showing that less than 5% of residents in Italian and German residency programs could perform major or complex procedures by the end of their residency.
