关于客户
Peconic Bay Medical Center is a healthcare facility in New York State that cares for more than 7,000 inpatients and 168,000 outpatients annually. It is a designated stroke center and features a highly regarded emergency department, an advanced surgery center, and centers of excellence in joint replacement and bariatric surgery. The medical center also offers a range of other medical services. The center's IT infrastructure was outdated, and they faced challenges in managing desktop environments and ensuring fast, secure access to clinical applications.
挑战
Peconic Bay Medical Center faced several challenges in managing their desktop infrastructure. They needed to support a joint solution with VMware and Imprivata, simplify all aspects of desktop management, ensure fast logons from any device or location, and manage a large environment with a small IT staff. Prior to the implementation, nurses and doctors accessed computers on rolling medication carts, which were expensive, often inadequately charged, and difficult to support and maintain. The center decided to deploy the Cerner Soarian Clinicals electronic health record (EHR) solution, which presented an opportunity to completely rebuild the network and desktop infrastructure.
解决方案
Peconic Bay Medical Center implemented a joint solution involving VMware View, Imprivata OneSign, and AppSense DesktopNow. VMware provided the virtual desktop infrastructure, Imprivata enabled single sign-on capabilities, and AppSense brought context and location awareness, allowing for local printer mapping and desktop customization based on individual user and location. The solution ensured fast, secure access to clinical applications from any device or location. The center replaced all switches and the entire wireless infrastructure, and deployed LG zero-client devices in every patient room and at nurses' stations. This eliminated the need for rolling medication carts and simplified desktop management.
运营影响
  • The implementation of AppSense DesktopNow significantly reduced help desk calls, virtually eliminating them from 15-20 calls a month to almost zero.
  • The solution enabled fast logons, with the first logon of the day taking only 24 seconds and subsequent logons taking as little as 4 seconds.
  • The context and location awareness provided by AppSense allowed for personalized desktops and local printer mapping, enhancing clinician productivity.
  • The deployment of zero-client devices in patient rooms and nurses' stations increased the time clinicians could spend with patients, improving overall patient care.
  • The integrated solution supported a large environment with a small IT staff, reducing the need for reformatting or malware removal from machines.
数量效益
  • Delivered first logon in 24 seconds.
  • Subsequent logons took as little as 4 seconds.
  • Nearly eliminated monthly help desk calls from 15-20 to virtually zero.
