Amphenol Fiber Optic Products, a leading provider of connectivity equipment, faced significant challenges in managing design changes for hundreds of products across its global engineering teams located in the United States, Mexico, China, and Vietnam. The company needed a robust Product Data Management (PDM) system to streamline collaboration and reduce communication delays. The existing CAD system was insufficient, leading to siloed work environments, version control issues, and significant IT overhead. The need for a more integrated and efficient solution was critical to support the rapid customization of fiber optic splitting boxes for major telecommunications clients.

Amphenol adopted Onshape, a cloud-native SaaS product development platform that combines a robust CAD system with built-in data management and real-time collaboration tools. This solution enabled Amphenol's global engineering teams to work on the same CAD model simultaneously, eliminating the delays and version control issues associated with their previous system. Onshape's comprehensive Edit History feature allowed the team to track changes and revert to prior stages if necessary. The platform's real-time business analytics provided executives and managers with insights into potential design and manufacturing bottlenecks, enabling timely resource reallocation. Hospital Inventory Management
The hospital supply chain team is responsible for ensuring that the right medical supplies are readily available to clinicians when and where needed, and to do so in the most efficient manner possible. However, many of the systems and processes in use at the cancer center for supply chain management were not best suited to support these goals. Barcoding technology, a commonly used method for inventory management of medical supplies, is labor intensive, time consuming, does not provide real-time visibility into inventory levels and can be prone to error. In order to address the challenges outlined above, the hospital sought a solution that would provide real-time inventory information with high levels of accuracy, reduce the level of manual effort required and enable data driven decision making to ensure that the right supplies were readily available to clinicians in the right location at the right time.
