About The Customer
Pierre’s Ice Cream is renowned for its premium quality products and exceptional customer service. The company is dedicated to maintaining high standards in both its product offerings and distribution operations. Pierre’s Ice Cream sought to enhance its service levels and operational efficiency by implementing advanced technology solutions. The company operates in a challenging environment, with distribution center temperatures reaching -20° Fahrenheit, necessitating protective clothing for workers. Despite these challenges, Pierre’s Ice Cream remains committed to delivering accurate and timely orders to its customers.
The Challenge
Pierre’s Ice Cream aimed to elevate their already high service levels and improve operational efficiency without overhauling their existing infrastructure. The company faced challenges with incomplete orders due to skipped empty locations and the high cost of rectifying pick errors. Additionally, the cold environment of their distribution center, with temperatures at -20° Fahrenheit, required workers to wear protective clothing, making traditional paper pick lists cumbersome and inefficient.
The Solution
Pierre’s Ice Cream implemented Voxware’s voice picking technology to streamline their distribution operations. The deployment included two key Voxware toolsets: VoxStudio, which allowed for configuration of the voice picking workflow, and VoxConnect, which facilitated quick integration with Pierre’s existing Warehouse Management System (WMS). The implementation process was completed in just five weeks. The Voxware system enabled hands-free operation for workers, significantly improving productivity and reducing the need for seasonal hires. Additionally, the system provided dynamic notifications for empty pick locations, automatically initiating replenishment tasks and redirecting workers to complete orders. The use of LXE HX3 Voice Only Wearable Mobile Computers further enhanced efficiency by eliminating the need for paper pick lists and allowing workers to operate seamlessly in the cold environment.

HEINEKEN Uses the Cloud to Reach 10.5 Million Consumers
For 2012 campaign, the Bond promotion, it planned to launch the campaign at the same time everywhere on the planet. That created unprecedented challenges for HEINEKEN—nowhere more so than in its technology operation. The primary digital content for the campaign was a 100-megabyte movie that had to play flawlessly for millions of viewers worldwide. After all, Bond never fails. No one was going to tolerate a technology failure that might bruise his brand.Previously, HEINEKEN had supported digital media at its outsourced datacenter. But that datacenter lacked the computing resources HEINEKEN needed, and building them—especially to support peak traffic that would total millions of simultaneous hits—would have been both time-consuming and expensive. Nor would it have provided the geographic reach that HEINEKEN needed to minimize latency worldwide.
