About The Customer
This US bank holding company has over 12,500 employees and more than 15 million customers worldwide and provides a range of financial services. It was able to completely automate its Windows 7 migration and meet the threshold mandated by the Federal Government using a combination of Nomad, Shopping and AppClarity.
The Challenge
The company needed to build and migrate banking deployment systems quickly and efficiently. Additionally, a government bailout meant that the company was required to comply with federal mandates for migration – criteria it would be unable to meet using IBM’s manual migration processes. It also faced the challenge of manually identifying and installing applications once the OS was migrated.
The Solution
The company already had 12,000 seats of Nomad and 1E WakeUp and decided to augment this package with 11,500 seats of AppClarity and Shopping. The IT department was then able to map all applications and automate the migration process during a WIN7 upgrade and to start offering app deployment on OSD based on usage.
Operational Impact
  • Compliance targets met – The company was able to meet its Federal Government mandates and migration process thresholds.
  • The company’s savings on license reclaim and task automation have already reached $1.5m with ongoing savings of $600K annually expected in future.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Over $1.5m in savings on license reclaim and task automation.
  • Ongoing savings of $600K annually expected in future.
