About The Customer
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) is a living memorial to the Holocaust. It inspires citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity. The museum's federally funded mandate is to educate people about the history of the Holocaust, advance research on this subject, disseminate this knowledge and preserve the memory of those who suffered. The museum is located adjacent to the National Mall in Washington, DC, and was chartered by a unanimous Act of Congress in 1980. It has a multifaceted program that includes exhibitions, research and publication, collecting and preserving material evidence, art and artifacts related to the Holocaust, annual Holocaust commemorations known as Days of Remembrance, distribution of education materials and teacher resources, and a variety of public programming designed to enhance understanding of the Holocaust and related issues, including those of contemporary significance.
The Challenge
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) decided to migrate to Google Apps and included CloudLock in the project scope from the outset. The goal was to use CloudLock post-rollout as a means to ensure security and enable ongoing monitoring of sharing patterns as well as internal and external exposures. During the early rollout stages, USHMM also found CloudLock to be instrumental in the deployment process and implementing change management in the organization.
The Solution
CloudLock was included in the project scope from the outset of USHMM's migration to Google Apps. The goal was to use CloudLock post-rollout as a means to ensure security and enable ongoing monitoring of sharing patterns as well as internal and external exposures. During the early rollout stages, USHMM also found CloudLock to be instrumental in the deployment process and implementing change management in the organization. CloudLock provides an Enterprise Data Security Dashboard, Automated Monitoring and Alerting, Access Management, and a Security Policy Engine. These features provide full administrative visibility and controls over all data in the domain, ongoing monitoring of the entire domain with email alerts on newly exposed documents and changes in permissions for existing documents, an effective way to manage documents, sites, collections and users in the domain as well as documents shared from the outside, and a framework necessary to define policies and make sure that collaboration practices are monitored and remain compliant with governance policies and procedures.
Operational Impact
  • CloudLock provides full administrative visibility and controls over all data in the domain.
  • CloudLock provides ongoing monitoring of the entire domain with email alerts on newly exposed documents and changes in permissions for existing documents.
  • CloudLock gives Google Apps domain administrators an effective way to manage documents, sites, collections and users in the domain as well as documents shared from the outside.
  • CloudLock’s Security Policy Engine provides organizations the framework necessary to define policies and make sure that collaboration practices are monitored and remain compliant with governance policies and procedures.
