The EDAG Group is based in Wiesbaden, Germany and is one of the world’s largest independent development partners to the automotive and aviation industries. They provide a wide range of services and have a strong reputation for innovation and quality. The company operates globally and has a significant presence in the automotive and aviation sectors. They have a large number of business-critical systems that are essential for their operations. The company has a strong focus on security and has a dedicated security team that is responsible for protecting their systems and data. However, they were the victim of a ransomware attack that left their IT systems handcuffed.
The Challenge
The EDAG Group, one of the world’s largest independent development partners to the automotive and aviation industries, fell victim to a ransomware attack on the night of March 13, 2021. A large number of their business-critical systems suddenly became unusable, and it was determined that their IT systems were under attack. The stakes were high as they were up against a ransomware attack. Their security team quickly stepped in and was able to control the attack, getting their systems back up and running. However, EDAG knew they needed an approach that would ensure no suspicious activity was left in the network and any future attacks would be thwarted.
The Solution
In response to the ransomware attack, EDAG implemented a proof of concept (POC) with Vectra to deliver AI-driven threat detection and response. This approach ensured accurate visibility into security threats and attacks that made it inside EDAG. Vectra's AI-driven approach to detection and response captures a meaningful collection of data and enriches it with security insights and context. This gives EDAG an advantage over adversaries by anticipating their every move. Vectra is able to apply this approach anywhere EDAG has workloads — cloud, data center, IoT and all across the enterprise — so visibility never becomes an issue again regardless of where deployments exist. The successful POC led to a rapid deployment of Vectra, which was easily integrated into The EDAG Group’s incident response strategy.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia.
