Sysmex Europe serves as the European headquarters, supporting local sales, maintenance, and service in the EMEA region. The company has grown significantly in recent years, not only in terms of employee numbers, but also in bandwidth and network throughput.
The Challenge
Sysmex Europe, a manufacturer and provider of innovative analysis devices and diagnostic laboratory services, faced a significant challenge in improving the functionality and performance of its security systems. The company had been using Check Point firewalls for nearly two decades to protect itself from external network attacks. However, with the rise in cyber attacks, Sysmex Europe decided it was time to refresh and improve its security infrastructure. The existing firewall had become outdated, causing performance limitations and a capacity bottleneck. Additionally, Sysmex Europe was dealing with the complexity of managing an open configuration system that included multiple vendors. The company sought to transition from this open configuration to a single vendor for both hardware and software security, aiming for a consolidated security approach.
The Solution
Sysmex Europe resolved its capacity bottleneck and improved its security infrastructure with Check Point's expanded security solution. The company implemented the Check Point Quantum NGFW and Check Point Quantum Security Gateway. With the firewall 6500 Turbo, Sysmex Europe can now prevent and block even the most sophisticated attacks. The Next Generation Threat Prevention package provides comprehensive protection from known and unknown threats. It includes antivirus, anti-bot, IPS, application control, URL filtering, and identity awareness features. The transition to the new devices was seamless, with no downtime or interruptions. The configurations were adopted and adjusted, and the old devices were then taken out of service. The systems remained available during the transition, allowing users to continue working as normal.
