These disconnected silos of information made it nearly impossible for the company to establish consistent customer records.
The Challenge
SWBC, a diversified financial services company, was facing a challenge due to its various distinct applications and data sources. These disconnected silos of information made it nearly impossible for the company to establish consistent customer records. They also had complex information management needs as they processed information from customers, partners, and other financial stakeholders. The company needed to combine data from a legacy accounting system and a variety of AS/400 applications to create consistent customer records. It also needed to process information related to mortgage originations, private mortgage insurance, loan payments, balance requests, and other day-to-day transactions.
The Solution
SWBC turned to Information Builders for help combining its data sources into an enterprise data warehouse, setting up process flows to manage incoming and outgoing transactions, establishing data governance procedures to ensure consistency in customer records, and creating a self-service reporting environment for visualizing and analyzing business data. Information Builders’ WebFOCUS and iWay products were used to consolidate information, ensure data integrity, and create a user-friendly environment for analyzing data and interacting with customers. iWay Integration Suite was used to extract data from 17 different sources, transform it into a common data type, and load it into Microsoft SQL Server databases structured for reporting. iWay also processed information related to mortgage originations, private mortgage insurance, loan payments, balance requests, and other day-to-day transactions. To cleanse the data and implement data governance controls, SWBC implemented iWay Data Quality Suite.
