About The Customer
Yestr is designed for individuals who wish to strengthen their bonds with their siblings through shared memories. The app is particularly beneficial for siblings who may be estranged or who do not interact on a regular basis. By prompting users to answer a daily question, Yestr facilitates brief but meaningful daily interactions between siblings. The app has just launched and currently has about 50 users. One user, who had been estranged from his sister for quite some time, mentioned that Yestr has been bringing them closer together.
The Challenge
Jeff Lillibridge, the founder of Yestr, was seeking a way to reminisce with his older sister about shared memories. He found that there was no existing solution that facilitated this kind of interaction between siblings. The challenge was to create a platform that would encourage siblings to engage in daily interactions, unlocking old memories and strengthening their bonds. Jeff had a background in managing websites for NBA teams and had a good understanding of graphics, marketing, and coding. However, he did not consider himself an expert in any of these fields. He initially sought a technical co-founder or funding to build his idea into a reality, but was met with frustration.
The Solution
Jeff turned to Bubble, a leader in the no-code movement, to build his app, Yestr. Bubble's powerful point-and-click web editor and cloud hosting platform allowed Jeff to build Yestr without a developer. After registering on Yestr, users generate an invite code, which is sent to their sibling. Once the recipient enters the code, the siblings are linked and the daily “Yestories” begin. Each “Yestory,” a term used to describe the daily question, is designed to spark a specific memory from growing up. Users cannot see their siblings’ responses until they’ve submitted their own. After submitting their answers, users are encouraged to like, and comment on, the Yestories. To encourage daily interactions, Yestr keeps track of how many consecutive days both siblings answer questions.
Operational Impact
  • The operational results of Yestr have been largely qualitative. Users have reported that the app has helped them reconnect with their siblings and strengthen their bonds. The daily questions, or 'Yestories', have been successful in sparking memories and facilitating conversations between siblings. One user reported that Yestr has been instrumental in bringing him closer to his sister, from whom he had been estranged. The app has also proven to be a valuable tool for Jeff, who was able to build it on his own using Bubble, despite not considering himself an expert in coding or development.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Yestr has about 50 users since its recent launch.
  • Yestr keeps track of how many consecutive days both siblings answer questions, encouraging daily interactions.
  • Yestr was built using Bubble, a no-code tool, eliminating the need for a developer or technical co-founder.
