About The Customer

Hunter Industries is a global manufacturer of irrigation systems and controllers for commercial, residential, municipal and agricultural applications. Headquartered in San Marcos, California since 1981, Hunter's irrigation business now spans over 80 countries.

The Challenge

Hunter Industries saw an opportunity to leverage cellular connectivity to deliver new features and services to irrigation controller customers, but ran into operational challenges related to managing SIM activations, data plan management and billing. This became even more complex with every new geographical market and wireless carrier network. All of this complexity made it more difficult to quickly scale their business and required more of their focus to be pulled away from their core business operations of building and selling irrigation products. 

The Solution

To address these challenges, Hunter Industries uses Zipit's multi-carrier connectivity management and subscription billing platform, enabling Hunter Industries to provide connectivity services, across multiple carriers' networks and in various countries, based on the needs of irrigation customers. Zipit's platform gives Hunter Industries a single pane of glass to analyze business results and facilitate the deployment of multiple cellular plan offerings, all in a recurring revenue model.  Hunter Industries can now offer cellular subscription services to customers in a self-service way and link device activations with customer billing processes from within the company's existing irrigation controller management solution.
