About The Customer
The customers of Splitchase are individuals who are looking to save on shipping costs by sharing their shopping carts, deals, and discounts with others who have similar needs. These customers are likely to be cost-conscious and open to sharing their purchases with others. They may be purchasing items from a variety of outlets, and are looking for a platform that allows them to easily connect with others who want to share the costs. The platform is also likely to appeal to individuals who are comfortable with using technology to facilitate their shopping experiences.
The Challenge
Splitchase was founded by Hussain Jalaluddin, a Master of Business Administration graduate from York University, with a background in product management and digital marketing. The challenge was to create a platform that allows users to share their shopping carts, deals, discounts, and trips to outlets with others who have similar needs. The goal was to create a matching app for the transactional needs of tangible goods, allowing users to save on shipping costs. The platform needed to be user-friendly, allowing customers to create listings, specify details about the deal, and connect with others who want to share the costs.
The Solution
Jalaluddin chose to build the app on Bubble, a powerful no-code platform. Bubble was chosen for its ease of building, seamless integration with external APIs, vast feature range, and readily available support. The app works by allowing users to land on the 'Create a Listing' page, where they can put up an offer. For example, if a user is buying a two pizzas deal from Dominos but only wants one, they can list this offer on the platform. Other users who want to share the deal can connect with the original customer and divide the costs. The app also allows the customer to mention specifics about the deal, such as the money limit of the share, time and place of goods exchange, and preferred contact medium.
Operational Impact
  • Since its inception, Splitchase has achieved several milestones. It was accepted into York University’s Side Hustle Program, where it has received valuable mentorship and guidance. In the future, Jalaluddin plans to build a community around the product, gathering feedback from early users and incorporating it into the app. He also aims to upscale the product in terms of customer base and the app’s features, without compromising on quality. The use of Bubble's no-code platform has allowed for a smooth development process, with its ease of building, seamless integration with external APIs, and readily available support.
