About The Customer
Solidaridad is an International Civil Society organization with over 50 years of experience in developing socially responsible, ecologically sound, and profitable supply chains. The organization works to make communities more resilient, with almost 1000 staff in over 40 countries worldwide, and to create fair and sustainable supply chains. Solidaridad enables farmers, miners, and other producers to earn a decent income, shape their own future, and produce in balance with nature.
The Challenge
Solidaridad, an international civil society organization, was faced with the challenge of providing training and other relevant information to farmers, miners, and other producers who were beneficiaries of its programs. The organization wanted to expand its reach and move communications to digital channels. However, a significant hurdle was that most of these beneficiaries did not have access to smartphones. Solidaridad's research indicated that over 90% of their program beneficiaries had access to basic and feature phones, making voice-based technology the most viable communication method. Therefore, the organization was in search of a reliable voice-based solutions provider that could help them disseminate information in an efficient and economical way.
The Solution
After evaluating potential voice-based communication providers, Solidaridad chose Infobip’s Voice solution. This solution allowed the organization to connect with program beneficiaries using text-to-speech calls, enabling them to pre-record audio that was sent to its program beneficiaries in the form of a phone call. Solidaridad used these text-to-speech calls to provide training, conduct post-training assessments to reinforce learning, and share other relevant information related to cocoa farming, oil palm farming, gold mining, and more. The voice technology also helped the organization bridge language, distance, and literacy gaps across the five countries it operates in within the West African region.
Operational Impact
  • The implementation of voice-based communications through Infobip has significantly improved Solidaridad's reach and impact. The organization has successfully connected with over 36,000 farmers and miners, providing them with timely training and useful information to improve their farming and mining practices. The solution has not only proved to be efficient but also cost-effective, prompting Solidaridad to consider expanding its communications mix in the future.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Reached 30,248 cocoa farmers across five countries
  • Reached 5,486 oil palm farmers across five countries
  • Reached 1,066 miners in Ghana alone
