About The Customer
The Thule Group is a global market leader in outdoor and transportation products for active lifestyles. They have a significant global presence, operating in 140 countries and translating their product and online content into over 30 languages. Thule's products are designed to help people transport their gear safely, easily, and in style, whether they are commuting to work, going on vacation, or engaging in outdoor activities. As a truly global brand, Thule is committed to providing a consistent and high-quality customer experience across all its markets, which requires effective management of multilingual content.
The Challenge
The Thule Group faced several challenges in managing their multilingual content. With a presence in 140 countries and product and online content translated into over 30 languages, the volume of customer-facing content was growing rapidly. This led to huge backlogs of untranslated content and content gaps in critical markets. Additionally, the increasing complexity of content, including multimedia and interactive elements, added to the challenge. Thule needed to balance speed, quality, and cost while ensuring that their multilingual websites remained current and consistent across all markets.
The Solution
The Thule Group partnered with Lionbridge and utilized the Lionbridge Connector for Sitecore to address their multilingual content management challenges. This cloud-based plug-in automates the transmission of content between Sitecore and Lionbridge’s translation technology, enabling Thule to create and manage multilingual websites more efficiently. The connector allows Thule to manage their site in one central language and easily export and re-import content for localization, ensuring that their multilingual sites stay current. The solution also simplifies and streamlines translation projects via a controlled workflow, reducing localization costs and time. By leveraging this technology, Thule can facilitate the translation process, effectively translate large volumes of content on a global scale, and create a central platform to manage digital content for all markets and languages.
