The Challenge
Simco Logistics, a major ice cream distributor in the Mid-Atlantic, faced challenges in improving fleet safety and complying with the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Despite having a fleet safety program for over 30 years, the company saw an opportunity to enhance its safety record and reduce accident-related costs. Additionally, as a distributor of temperature-sensitive goods, Simco needed to ensure compliance with FSMA regulations, which required meticulous temperature records during deliveries to prove that food was kept at safe conditions. The Solution
To address its challenges, Simco Logistics implemented Samsara's dual-facing dash cams and environmental monitors across its entire fleet. The dash cams provided HD footage of harsh driving events, enabling real-time alerts and data-driven coaching. This allowed Simco to track and review driving behavior, leading to significant improvements in safety. The company also used Samsara's environmental monitors to continuously track and record temperature in their vehicles, ensuring compliance with FSMA regulations.
