Tyco is the world’s largest fire protection and security company, providing products and services to more than three million customers. With over $10 billion in annual revenues, Tyco has over 57,000 employees in more than 900 locations across 50 countries. The company operates two highly automated distribution centers (DCs) that feature capabilities such as conveyance and radio-frequency (RF) technology, in Lithia Springs, Georgia, and Phoenix, Arizona. Tyco leverages JDA Warehouse Management to control its warehousing activities in both DCs.
The Challenge
Tyco, the world’s largest fire protection and security company, was facing challenges with its distribution and logistics processes which were previously outsourced. The outsourced warehouse management solution was very manual and inefficient. In order to improve service levels and reduce costs, Tyco decided to automate and standardize its distribution and fulfillment environments. The company needed a robust warehouse management solution that could provide a standardized, high-velocity distribution model. The solution had to interface with seven different enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, driving consistency across the warehouse floor.
The Solution
Tyco implemented JDA Warehouse Management and JDA Warehouse Labor Management in its distribution centers (DCs) in Lithia Springs, Georgia, and Phoenix, Arizona. The warehouse management system (WMS) interfaces with seven different ERP systems, driving consistency across the warehouse floor. This configuration and software support enabled Tyco to ship efficiently, on time and at a reasonable cost. JDA Services was crucial to completing the warehouse management implementation project on time and on budget. Two years later, Tyco expanded its investment in JDA solutions and implemented JDA Warehouse Labor Management in its Lithia Springs facility to optimize workforce planning and scheduling, task and learning management, compliance and measurement, and visibility and analysis.
