About The Customer
RMP is a company that has recently become committed to sustainability and reducing its impact on the planet. In 2021, they officially recognized the importance of sustainability and caring for the future of our planet. They went from being 'green and keen' enthusiasts to proactive market-leading activists. They have set ambitious goals to reduce their carbon emissions by 10% each year and become carbon negative by 2024. They have also implemented various initiatives across the business to reduce the carbon they produce. They have internal 'sustainability champions' who meet once a month to discuss and drive sustainable change at RMP.
The Challenge
RMP, a company that was previously 'green and keen' enthusiasts, decided to become proactive market-leading activists in 2021. They realized the importance of sustainability and caring for the planet's future. The first step in their journey was to understand their carbon footprint, which they discovered was 124 tonnes CO2e, or 2.3 tonnes per person in 2021. They wanted to reduce their impact on the planet and inspire others to join them on this journey. However, they faced challenges in reducing their carbon emissions and making their operations more sustainable.
The Solution
RMP took several steps to reduce their carbon emissions and make their operations more sustainable. They purchased permanent biochar carbon removal to remove 100% of their 2021 emissions, which permanently removes the carbon they've emitted into the atmosphere. They also switched suppliers for their merchandise to 'I Dress Myself', a sustainable supplier that uses organic cotton, water-based inks, plastic-free embroidery, and plastic-free packaging. They reduced the size of the brochures they distribute to universities from 200+ to about ~20 pages, resulting in a 76% reduction in paper usage. They also implemented meat-free work events to encourage more sustainable eating.
Operational Impact
  • RMP has successfully reduced their carbon emissions by purchasing permanent biochar carbon removal to offset 100% of their 2021 emissions.
  • They have switched to a sustainable supplier for their merchandise, which uses organic cotton, water-based inks, plastic-free embroidery, and plastic-free packaging.
  • They have reduced their paper usage by 76% by shrinking the size of the brochures they distribute to universities.
  • They have implemented meat-free work events to encourage more sustainable eating.
  • They have established a team of internal 'sustainability champions' who meet once a month to discuss and drive sustainable change at RMP.
Quantitative Benefit
