The Challenge
Civis, a technology platform founded by Antaraa V., was created to bridge the communication gap between Indian citizens and their government. The challenge was twofold: citizens lacked a forum to communicate about policies that impact their daily lives, and legislators lacked the means to interact with each citizen. The complexity of laws and policies, often running into hundreds of pages, made it difficult for the average citizen to understand and engage with them. On the other hand, legislators struggled to gather and analyze feedback from the vast population. Additionally, Civis faced a financial constraint in its early stages, making it expensive to build a platform that offered the required customization and flexibility.
The Solution
Civis developed an innovative solution to make it fun for app users to get acquainted with specific laws, collect and analyze their feedback, and then present highlights to legislators in 3-minute sessions. The platform was built using Bubble, a tool that offered the flexibility and customization Civis needed. The platform was designed to be scalable and capable of shaping a new narrative for how democracy functions, using technology. Civis also plans to introduce gamification to engage users and is exploring different mediums to convey content, such as videos and chatbots. The platform is also set to expand its language support using translation APIs to gather hyperlocal feedback from smaller areas, which would be useful for the government and the nation at large.

The Netherlands are well-known for their inland waterways, canals, sluices and of course port activities.
