About The Customer
Surfacelogix is a manufacturer of paver sealers, stains, and specialty coatings based in Pompano Beach, Florida. For over 60 years, the company has been providing quality products for the construction industry, playing a key role in the construction of hotels and condominiums. Their products are sold through a network of distributors, as well as directly to contractors through their retail operation. The company was running an older system that was no longer supported by the developer, which prompted them to look for a new solution to improve their operational efficiency.
The Challenge
Surfacelogix, a Florida-based manufacturer of paver sealers, stains, and specialty coatings, was grappling with an outdated system that was no longer supported by its developer. The company, which has been in operation for over 60 years, was in dire need of a software upgrade to improve its operational efficiency. The old system was hindering the company's materials requirements planning, costing, traceability, and quality support. Determining which materials needed to be reordered was a full-time job, and the company was struggling with maintaining hundreds of formulations in the face of fluctuating raw materials costs. Additionally, the company needed a system that could track sampling and testing information for batches and traceability information from receiving through production and POS/shipping. The company also wanted to improve its integration with Windows and get better support for its day-to-day operations.
The Solution
Surfacelogix turned to Mar-Kov's software to replace their aging system. Mar-Kov's software provided a full view of inventory and instant material requirements planning, which reduced the raw materials stock on hand while eliminating raw material stock outs that had previously slowed down production. The software also provided accurate costing information for each product and package size, which was crucial given the company's constantly changing formulations. Mar-Kov's software also improved traceability by recording raw material lot numbers for each batch produced and producing certificates of analysis for each lot. The software also integrated closely with MS office products, allowing Surfacelogix to email order confirmations and invoices directly out of the system and export data to excel for post-processing and analysis. Mar-Kov also provided hotline user support to quickly resolve any issues. Additionally, Mar-Kov's software included a complete standard off-the-shelf interface to QuickBooks at minimal cost, eliminating the need for double-entry of information.

Improving Production Line Efficiency with Ethernet Micro RTU Controller
Moxa was asked to provide a connectivity solution for one of the world's leading cosmetics companies. This multinational corporation, with retail presence in 130 countries, 23 global braches, and over 66,000 employees, sought to improve the efficiency of their production process by migrating from manual monitoring to an automatic productivity monitoring system. The production line was being monitored by ABB Real-TPI, a factory information system that offers data collection and analysis to improve plant efficiency. Due to software limitations, the customer needed an OPC server and a corresponding I/O solution to collect data from additional sensor devices for the Real-TPI system. The goal is to enable the factory information system to more thoroughly collect data from every corner of the production line. This will improve its ability to measure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and translate into increased production efficiencies. System Requirements • Instant status updates while still consuming minimal bandwidth to relieve strain on limited factory networks • Interoperable with ABB Real-TPI • Small form factor appropriate for deployment where space is scarce • Remote software management and configuration to simplify operations

Advanced Elastomer Systems Upgrades Production
In order to maintain its share of the international market for thermoplastic elastomers AES recently expanded its Florida plant by adding a new production line. While the existing lines were operating satisfactorily using a PROVOX distributed control system with traditional analog I/O, AES wanted advanced technology on the new line for greater economy, efficiency, and reliability. AES officials were anxious to get this line into production to meet incoming orders, but two hurricanes slowed construction.

How Sirqul’s IoT Platform is Crafting Carrefour’s New In-Store Experiences
Carrefour Taiwan’s goal is to be completely digital by end of 2018. Out-dated manual methods for analysis and assumptions limited Carrefour’s ability to change the customer experience and were void of real-time decision-making capabilities. Rather than relying solely on sales data, assumptions, and disparate systems, Carrefour Taiwan’s CEO led an initiative to find a connected IoT solution that could give the team the ability to make real-time changes and more informed decisions. Prior to implementing, Carrefour struggled to address their conversion rates and did not have the proper insights into the customer decision-making process nor how to make an immediate impact without losing customer confidence.

Digital Retail Security Solutions
Sennco wanted to help its retail customers increase sales and profits by developing an innovative alarm system as opposed to conventional connected alarms that are permanently tethered to display products. These traditional security systems were cumbersome and intrusive to the customer shopping experience. Additionally, they provided no useful data or analytics.
