About The Customer
Acme Brick is a longstanding company in the brickmaking industry, founded in 1891. The company has consistently advanced the art and science of brickmaking, making brick an affordable, sustainable, enduring, and beautiful choice for America's homeowners, builders, contractors, institutions, and businesses. Despite its traditional industry, Acme Brick has a significant IT infrastructure, with 1200 workstations, servers, and active users. The company's security team is lean, with only two members responsible for managing and maintaining the security of this infrastructure.
The Challenge
Acme Brick, a company with a long history in brickmaking, faced a significant challenge in managing the security of its IT infrastructure. With only two team members responsible for the security of 1200 workstations, servers, and active users, the company was struggling to maintain efficiency and effectiveness in its operations. The lean team was overwhelmed with the volume of work and the need for a tool that could streamline their day-to-day operations was deemed critical. The challenge was to find a solution that could integrate all their security tools into one platform, making it easier to manage and monitor their security posture.
The Solution
Acme Brick turned to Rapid7 for a solution to their challenge. Initially, they purchased InsightVM, but soon added InsightIDR, InsightConnect, and Metasploit to their suite of tools. These tools provided a single pane of glass through which all their security tools could be viewed and managed. This greatly increased the efficiency of their operations, allowing them to quickly identify and respond to alerts. Furthermore, InsightVM helped them understand their weak points, such as workstations or servers missing critical patches. The integration of these tools into one platform made it easier for the team to manage their security posture. Additionally, the use of InsightConnect with InsightIDR allowed them to quickly respond to critical alerts, such as attempted access to a user's account from a foreign country. This integration enabled them to quickly shut down the user's account and start an investigation, preventing any compromise.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
