About The Customer
Telenet is the largest cable services provider in Belgium, offering video and cable television, broadband internet and traditional circuit switched and digital (Voice over IP) telephony services to 2.3 million customers, primarily residential accounts in Flanders and Brussels. The company also offers mobile telephony service as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). Under the Telenet Solutions brand name, it also provides services to companies in Belgium and Luxembourg.
The Challenge
Telenet, Belgium’s largest cable services provider, needed to consolidate its IT infrastructure and adopt a virtualized environment. It also needed a solution that included both basic load balancing features and application performance monitoring. The company looked for a solution that would fit into its existing infrastructure in both its production site and its testing environment. As a leading cable operator with an MVNO offering, Telenet also needed to provide non-stop, premium services to more than one million subscribers (existing residential and business customers) as well deliver new services to new and existing customers.
The Solution
Telenet installed four Radware Alteon 5412 application switches, each run the ADC-VX solution with 28 vADCs. By combining physical and virtual ADC systems, Telenet is able to run and operate different applications and services in both testing and production environments. This hybrid environment also allows Telenet to rapidly roll out new broadband value added services or set up new services in their testing/staging environments, with no risk and minimum effort. The company is in the process of virtualizing its infrastructure. The Radware solution enables it to use virtual ADCs to test equipment and new features prior to integration into the production environment without affecting system performance for users.
Operational Impact
  • With the advanced virtualization and consolidation capabilities of Radware’s ADC-VX virtualization solution, Telenet has been able to reduce the number of units from eighteen to four.
  • It has also gained performance predictability for each vADC instance, complete vADC instance segregation and instant vADC provisioning – resulting in maximum business agility, simplified operations, and OPEX reduction.
  • ADC-VX ensures high quality of experience (QoE) with fast response times.
