The Challenge
Region Skåne Habilitation and Assistive Technology Services, a group within healthcare organization Region Skåne, was facing several challenges. They needed to coordinate six different operational systems, improve the presentation of analysis in a visually engaging format, and reduce manual data collection and analysis. The services they provide are based on the principle that all people are equal regardless of age, gender, disability, and ethnic or religious background. They help treat people with permanent disabilities with exercise and assistive technology to enable participation in everyday life. The Solution
Region Skåne Habilitation and Assistive Technology Services deployed QlikView to 50 employees across 3 functional areas. With QlikView, the organization analyzes applications for client administration, staff scheduling, patient records, and financials – all focused on improving operational efficiencies and performance. The booking system for sign language interpreters is used when hearing impaired patients make a doctor’s appointment. QlikView makes it easier for the staff to match the right interpreter with the right patient based on their interpreting style, location and schedules. For the managers at Region Skåne, it also means better tools to follow up and optimize the need for interpreters. In the end, these optimized resources mean significant savings.

Hospital Inventory Management
The hospital supply chain team is responsible for ensuring that the right medical supplies are readily available to clinicians when and where needed, and to do so in the most efficient manner possible. However, many of the systems and processes in use at the cancer center for supply chain management were not best suited to support these goals. Storage of supplies was also a key consideration given the location of the cancer center’s facilities in a dense urban setting, where space is always at a premium. In order to address the challenges outlined above, the hospital sought a solution that would provide real-time inventory information with high levels of accuracy, reduce the level of manual effort required and enable data driven decision making to ensure that the right supplies were readily available to clinicians in the right location at the right time.
