The Challenge
William Reed, through its insights division Lumina Intelligence, faced the challenge of meeting growing demand for advanced dashboards and reporting from different types of data users within client organizations. Previously, data was assembled in Excel spreadsheets and shared via PowerPoint presentations, which was not efficient or scalable. The objective was to ensure that insight products were used effectively by providing a flexible solution with various formats to cater to diverse user needs.
The Solution
Lumina Intelligence conducted an exhaustive evaluation of BI products and chose Pyramid Analytics as the best-fit solution due to its user-friendliness and rich modelling functionality. The self-service dashboards provided by Pyramid were easy to use, which was crucial for making insights directly available to hundreds of clients via Lumina’s cloud platform. The interface's similarity to Microsoft Office modules like PowerPoint and Excel facilitated user adoption. Within weeks of implementation, team members with no engineering background were able to quickly turn models into dashboards, accelerating the journey from data to insights. The infrastructure supports a 'fail fast' approach, allowing Lumina to trial processes quickly in Pyramid’s modelling function before full production. Pyramid licenses are distributed across power users in Lumina and William Reed’s commercial team, with usage constantly evaluated to ensure maximum value.

Moxa was asked to provide a connectivity solution for one of the world's leading cosmetics companies. This multinational corporation, with retail presence in 130 countries, 23 global braches, and over 66,000 employees, sought to improve the efficiency of their production process by migrating from manual monitoring to an automatic productivity monitoring system. The production line was being monitored by ABB Real-TPI, a factory information system that offers data collection and analysis to improve plant efficiency. Due to software limitations, the customer needed an OPC server and a corresponding I/O solution to collect data from additional sensor devices for the Real-TPI system. The goal is to enable the factory information system to more thoroughly collect data from every corner of the production line. This will improve its ability to measure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and translate into increased production efficiencies.
