About The Customer
The customer is a large public school district with over 90 thousand students and over 200 schools. This organization maintains high state equivalency standards and provides all students the opportunity to achieve the knowledge and skills necessary to become contributing citizens in our diverse society. The organization is a long-standing NETSCOUT customer, with their Network Operations (NetOps) team relying on the nGeniusONE® Service Assurance platform to visualize and monitor their network communication services.
The Challenge
The customer, a large public school district, was facing an increased volume of cyber attacks during mandated testing periods. The Security Operations (SecOps) team was seeking a Network Detection and Response solution to increase their network visibility and quickly investigate and mitigate any questionable activity. They were particularly interested in changes in traffic behavior during testing periods when bad actors, potentially even students, attempt to take down the environment to avoid taking the tests.
The Solution
The customer chose to implement NETSCOUT® Omnis® Cyber Intelligence for faster investigation and Omnis® CyberStream for increased storage and improved configuration. Omnis Cyber Intelligence is an advanced threat detection and response solution that brings deep packet inspection at scale. It provides the ability to detect, validate, investigate, and respond to cyber threats, whether on prem or in the cloud promptly and efficiently. Omnis CyberStream was deployed at key aggregation points in the network environment, to generate SMART data for OCI. Having dedicated CyberStreams also increased their storage capabilities and allowed them to manage the system exclusively for security purposes.
