About The Customer
Prosource is one of the largest managed service providers in the Midwest, serving small businesses across Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia. The company partners with Datto and Open Mesh to deliver comprehensive backup, disaster recovery, and networking solutions. Prosource has a strong reputation for providing reliable and innovative IT services, helping businesses enhance their operational efficiency and resilience. The company has a history of leveraging advanced technology to solve complex networking challenges, as demonstrated by their successful projects and satisfied clientele.
The Challenge
Prosource faced the challenge of providing reliable and high-speed internet access at the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA) facility in Friendship, Indiana. The biannual shooting competition attracts thousands of attendees and hundreds of vendors, making it essential to have a robust networking solution. The existing networking equipment was insufficient to handle the high demand, leading to poor internet connectivity and dissatisfaction among attendees and vendors. Prosource needed to upgrade the networking infrastructure to ensure seamless internet access and improve the overall experience for event participants.
The Solution
Prosource upgraded the existing networking equipment at the NMLRA facility with five Open Mesh MR-1750 access points installed on telephone poles throughout the venue. This deployment included the implementation of bandwidth throttling, a feature that ensured no single user could monopolize the available bandwidth, thereby improving the overall WiFi experience. The upgraded network garnered positive feedback from attendees and vendors, who appreciated the reliable and high-speed internet access. Moving forward, Prosource plans to transition the MR-1750s to Datto Networking for their managed service provider (MSP) clientele. They also intend to add additional Datto AP60s to the deployment and work with the NMLRA to increase bandwidth into the facility. This strategic move aims to provide state-of-the-art WiFi, attracting more visitors to the event and enhancing their experience.
Operational Impact
  • The upgraded network infrastructure provided reliable and high-speed internet access, significantly improving the experience for event attendees and vendors.
  • The implementation of bandwidth throttling ensured fair distribution of available bandwidth, preventing any single user from monopolizing the network.
  • Positive feedback from attendees and vendors highlighted the success of the networking solution, enhancing Prosource's reputation as a reliable service provider.
  • The transition to Datto Networking and the addition of Datto AP60s are expected to further enhance the network's performance and capacity, supporting future events at the NMLRA facility.
  • Prosource's innovative approach and successful deployment demonstrate their expertise in delivering advanced networking solutions, positioning them as a leader in the managed service provider industry.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Five Open Mesh MR-1750 access points were installed to upgrade the existing network infrastructure.
  • The deployment included the addition of Datto AP60s to further enhance network performance.
  • The upgraded network supported thousands of attendees and hundreds of vendors during the NMLRA's biannual shooting competition.
