About The Customer
The customer is a car rental company based in Russia. The company's business involves renting out vehicles to clients for short periods. The company was facing a significant challenge with vehicle theft, which was causing substantial financial losses and operational disruptions. The company needed a solution that could help prevent theft and provide comprehensive monitoring of its rental vehicles. The company's requirements included remote engine shutdown, real-time monitoring, historical data for analysis and reporting, geofence control, event-based notifications, and a mobile app for vehicle control outside the office.
The Challenge
The customer, a car rental company in Russia, was facing a significant problem with vehicle theft. The company needed a transport monitoring system that could provide remote engine shutdown, real-time monitoring, historical data for analysis and reporting, geofence control, event-based notifications, and a mobile app for vehicle control outside the office. The challenge was to implement a system that could effectively prevent theft and provide comprehensive vehicle monitoring capabilities.
The Solution
The solution was provided by 'Smart Control Systems', a partner company of Gurtam in Russia. The solution consisted of Wialon Hosting and the Smart S-2333 device from Navtelekom. The Smart S-2333 device, equipped with antennas, a built-in configurable accelerometer, and a low-current output, was used for starter block. In Wialon, geofences of various types and sizes were created to indicate the perimeter. If a rental car moved out of the geofence, the system would block the engine on command, and the dispatcher would be notified by email, mobile device, and browser. The client received not only an anti-theft suit but also a universal system for satellite monitoring with the ability to control movements in real time and receive reports on trips, track the progress of maintenance by time, mileage and hours, and much more.
Operational Impact
  • Since the introduction of the monitoring system, no case of theft has been recorded.
  • A single specialist can easily control in real time such a number of units with receiving up-to-date reporting on trips.
  • The ability to track the terms of rental cars, while ensuring proper planning.
  • Thanks to the convenient mobile client, round-the-clock monitoring is guaranteed.
Quantitative Benefit
  • 0 car thefts since the introduction of the monitoring system.
  • Dozens of units can be easily controlled in real time by a single specialist.
  • 24/7 round-the-clock monitoring is guaranteed thanks to the convenient mobile client.
