The Challenge
Pie Town Productions, a reality television production company based in North Hollywood, CA, was facing a number of unique challenges. The company was concurrently producing 10 series and delivering more than 400 episodes a year. The production of reality shows brought about several difficulties such as managing multiple cameras, handling high volumes of footage, meeting fast turnaround times, and working within tight budgets. Additionally, with a growing portfolio of projects and highly technical network deliverables along with video-on-demand (VOD) and iTunes requirements, Pie Town needed a non-linear editing solution that could meet all of their production deadlines and handle their high-volume workflows in any content format.
The Solution
To overcome these challenges, Pie Town decided to embrace Avid Everywhere. By investing in trusted Avid Artist Suite and Storage Suite solutions, powered by the Avid MediaCentral platform, Pie Town was able to handle high volumes of footage and deliverables, while meeting the tight deadlines and budgets of reality-TV production. The company deployed the Storage Suite’s Avid ISIS shared-storage system, which facilitated project and media sharing between editors, allowing them to collaborate on content during the production process, and making editorial on larger productions more integrated. With its new workflow in place, Pie Town switched to the industry’s preeminent editing solution, Avid Media Composer. The entire post process now happens internally, without going to outside facilities, saving time and money.
