About The Customer
PageGroup is a globally renowned specialist recruitment consultancy. The company employs approximately 7,000 people across 37 countries and generated a revenue of around £1,305m in 2020. Recognizing the risks posed by climate change, PageGroup has set an ambitious target to become carbon net-zero by 2026, with further ambitions to become climate positive. Despite the office-based nature of their work resulting in a relatively small carbon footprint, PageGroup acknowledges their responsibility as a global, listed company to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and take urgent action against climate change.
The Challenge
PageGroup, a globally recognized specialist recruitment consultancy, was faced with the challenge of reducing its carbon footprint in line with its ambitious goal of achieving carbon net-zero by 2026. Despite having a relatively small carbon footprint due to the office-based nature of their work, PageGroup recognized their responsibility as a global, listed company to take urgent action against climate change. They aimed to ensure that both current and future generations could enjoy the benefits of a healthy and sustainable environment. However, their existing traditional reporting system, which required manual inputting of data, was inefficient and lacked the robustness needed for accurate and regular reporting of carbon emissions.
The Solution
PageGroup partnered with Ecometrica to overhaul their environmental footprint reporting system. Ecometrica’s Sustainability Reporting Platform was implemented across all of PageGroup's offices in 37 countries, replacing the traditional manual data input system. This new system-based reporting tool made the process of collecting emissions-related data more efficient and robust, which was crucial for auditing purposes and improving the transparency of reported sustainability data. Furthermore, PageGroup utilized Ecometrica’s award-winning Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Risk Assessor. This allowed them to analyze their business against climate-related scenarios, predicting potential impacts such as heatwaves, precipitation extremes, flooding, drought conditions, and sea level rises for each of their offices.
Operational Impact
  • The implementation of Ecometrica’s Sustainability Reporting Platform has significantly improved PageGroup's ability to track and report its environmental footprint. The transition from a manual to a system-based reporting tool has not only increased efficiency but also enhanced the robustness and transparency of the company's sustainability data. This is crucial for auditing purposes and for tracking progress towards their ambitious emissions targets. Furthermore, the use of Ecometrica’s TCFD Risk Assessor has enabled PageGroup to analyze their business against climate-related scenarios, providing valuable insights into potential risks and impacts for each of their offices. This proactive approach to climate risk assessment aligns with PageGroup's commitment to taking urgent action against climate change.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Implemented a robust sustainability reporting platform across 37 countries
  • Transitioned from a manual to a system-based reporting tool, improving efficiency
  • Enabled prediction of climate-related impacts for each office location
