Best Day is a Mexican company that began in Cancun in 1984. With vast experience in the tourism industry, the company strives to perfect its personalized service experience. Best Day’s platform offers users access to more than 90,000 hotels, as well as more than 70 domestic and international airlines flying to most destinations around the globe. Customers also receive special offers throughout the year. The company aims to stand out from the competition by engaging in multiple market segments and providing vacationers with the greatest experience possible.
Best Day, a Mexican tourism company, aimed to become the leading travel agency in Latin America. To achieve this, they needed to optimize their cloud-based operations and become more efficient. The company faced three main challenges: maintaining availability and performance at a low cost, automating as many operations as possible, and processing data in real time for better business decisions and an AI-powered customized experience. Their online platform, a crucial tool for marketing their services, required constant updates and a modern upgrade to make operations sustainable. They also experienced stability issues with their cloud-based database environment with their previous provider.
Best Day partnered with DataArt, a consulting company, to implement Google Cloud. The migration process took two months, with an additional month for groundwork. The benefits of the new platform became immediately clear. Infrastructure costs were reduced by approximately 75%, partly due to structural changes and workflow improvements, and partly due to the migration to Google Cloud. Stability issues during demand peaks were resolved, and low latency was achieved due to Google’s network of strategically distributed Data Centers. Tools within Google Cloud, such as Compute Engine, streamlined operations that directly impacted Best Day’s customers. The company is currently using BigQuery to collect all the sales data they need for automatic cost alerts and reports, and plans to migrate their whole data strategy to this tool in the future.
