About The Customer
The primary users of OnOtto are households that struggle to keep up with periodic maintenance tasks. These tasks can range from home system maintenance to vehicle upkeep, personal health, and pet care. The app is designed to improve the quality of life and safety of its users by helping them avoid costly premature repairs and replacements. It also assists in managing other 'adulting' categories, making it a comprehensive tool for managing recurring tasks. The user base is currently small, but the app has already brought peace of mind and a new level of organization to its users.
The Challenge
The founder of OnOtto, Tony Kau, identified a common problem faced by many households: staying on top of periodic maintenance tasks. These tasks, which range from home system maintenance to vehicle upkeep, personal health, and pet care, are often overlooked or forgotten due to the lack of an efficient reminder system. Existing solutions, such as calendar reminders and checklist apps, did not offer the necessary features and workflow conducive to managing the periodic maintenance cycle for households. The challenge was to create an app that could effectively manage these tasks, send recurring reminders, and even connect users with service providers for specific tasks.
The Solution
Tony Kau developed OnOtto, an app that helps households manage periodic maintenance tasks by sending recurring reminders. The app was built using Bubble, a no-code platform that allowed for quick prototyping and integration of external APIs. After signing up, users can add tasks they want to remember and browse through 'Starter Packs', which are collections of common maintenance items. Users can also add other members of their household, assign task owners, and list supplies needed for each task. Tasks due in the next seven days are aggregated on a shopping list, and users can opt to hire a service provider for a particular task. Future plans for the app include the development of iOS and Android versions, a marketplace of expert-curated task lists, and a platform for service providers to connect with customers.
